Student Mentor Program
Mrs. Heather Swan and Mrs. Christine Ostrowski co-run the Student Mentor program at Farmington this year. Both are available to help students in need. It is wonderful that Farmington offers this opportunity to students. There are many factors that can affect our children's day to day lives, which in turn could have a negative impact on their education. It is important for families and schools to work together to provide the best support for all children. Farmington offers these groups to students so they can quickly learn they are not the only ones going through the same kinds of things. The Student Mentors provide a variety of support including:
● Whole classroom intervention
● Small group and individual social emotional support
● Peer mediation
● Mental health/community referrals and more
Small group support covers a variety of topics:
● Anger management
● Stress/Anxiety management
● Handling changes
● Self-esteem
● Organization/School success and more
Look for Student Mentor permission slips to come home with your child during the first couple weeks of school. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns or would like to contact one of the Student Mentors please feel free to reach out by phone, email or schedule an appointment. Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead. Please let us know if we can support your child in any way.
